Well, this is semi-relevant since Jawbox did a split with Jawbreaker back in the day. Anyways, I've been getting heavily into Jawbox lately. I've been listening to them on and off for about year, and it took me a while for me to seriously get into them. But, now I am hooked. I want to go and pick up one of their albums. I'm leaning towards just going out and picking up For Your Own Special Sweetheart, but I was wondering what is everyone's favorite record by them?

Two of my all time favorites: Jawbreaker and Jawbox. All the Jawbox records are great but the first two are the best. Novelty and Grippe are just both straight forward rockers. J. Robbins is such a badass. It's just fitting that he's engineering the Jets now. Seems that both the Jaws have been friends for such a long time. Another thing that has always interested me is the fact that both Jawbox and Jawbreaker have that word in common. Then, their later bands both have something in common: airplanes. Jets To Brazil and Burning Airlines...kinda funny... Chris

If I had to pick one, it would be 'Novelty', every song is awesome (except maybe 'Spiral Fix'). And I've always thought the overall production was great, really clean sounding but not overpolished and the best sounding guitars committed to tape. Although Blake is one cool dude, J.Robbins is the man! Anyone got any live Jawbox?

I still haven't gotten ahold of "...Sweetheart" (nor have I heard "Jawbox" , but "Novelty" and "Grippe" are both outstanding. I think the songs on "Novelty," overall, are more solid (I LOVE "Ones and Zeros" , but you can't deny songs like "Impossible Figure" on "Novelty." J is absolutely outstanding as a singer and a songwriter. And his guitar playing is so interesting-- so intricate-- yet, never overdone and always tasteful. He's as close as you'll get to an indie rock "guitar hero" without all the bullshit pretension and flash of that moniker.
